Christal is a bilingual, licensed Naturopathic Doctor. She has been treating families in Northern Ontario and Toronto for 7 years. Patients come to her with a wide range of conditions such as hormonal imbalances, gastrointestinal disturbances, food sensitivities, weight loss, thyroid disease, bioenergetic imbalances, chronic pain and more. Christal's approach to patient care is to bring balance to the mind and body by addressing the root cause of disease. She is focused on the "why" of the condition rather than managing symptoms. Christal obtained certification in Restorative Medicine with the Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine (AARM) including specialized training in women's health, metabolic diseases, thyroid disorders and endocrine dysfunction. She has had much success in optimizing hormonal balance with both natural supplements and bio-identical hormones (such as topical estrogen and progesterone) as well as dessicated thyroid extract (for thyroid hormone replacement therapy). With a passion for sports and a former university basketball player, Christal specialized in sports medicine during her clinical rotation at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She has also completed her certification with the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) and is currently completing her training for certification with the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK). The AK practitioner follows the principle that specific muscles are linked to specific organs. By identifying the muscles that are unstable, we can identify underlying imbalances in the body both presently and preventatively. Christal earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a Master of Science degree in Chemical Sciences from Laurentian University. During her research studies, she learned the importance of evidence-based research and continues to use these tools in her daily practice as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Christal Graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2011. She passed the Ontario Prescribing and Therapeutics exam administered by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario in July 2015 allowing her to prescribe and use natural substances that are regulated under federal legislation. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the International Society of Sports Nutrition.
