Marnie is a licensed naturopathic doctor located downtown Toronto. Although her practice addresses all types of health concerns, she has a special interest in digestive issues, women's health (menstrual concerns, fertility and perinatal care), men's health, weight management and skin concerns. She is also passionate about helping her patients implement lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, sleep) that lay the foundation for resilient health. Growing up in rural Ontario, most of her childhood and adolescence was spent surrounded by nature; hiking, gardening, swimming and biking. Her studies, however, immersed her in an urban lifestyle. Over the past ten years she has lived and studied in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Montreal and Toronto. Throughout her undergraduate degree at McGill University, Marnie worked as a flight attendant. It was at this time she both experienced and witnessed the influence stress and modern lifestyle play on individual and global health. In an attempt to find balance in her own life, she began a thoughtful exploration into alternative health and lifestyle choices. Her exploration lead to a deep respect for the healing wisdom of ancient traditions (yoga, meditation, asian medicine and herbalism) coupled with an appreciation for advances in modern medicine and science. Naturopathic medicine is based on these guiding principles and has evolved not only into Marnie's career, but life choice. For Marnie, the path to becoming a naturopathic doctor has helped her answer the persistent question of finding balance, while at the same time, being a part of this world in a meaningful way. Marnie's experiences in work, study, travel and community involvement have created a curiosity to learn about and better understand people. Exploring people's stressors, passions, choices, desires, barriers, characteristics which unite us and those which make us different has influenced the way she approaches patient care. Marnie strives to meet each patient's unique circumstances to collaboratively find solutions that sustain healthy change. In addition to her love of naturopathic medicine, you will find Marnie biking around the city (weather permitting), strolling with her pup, Maeve, volunteering, sailing, practicing and teaching yoga, cooking and enjoying craft beer or a good cocktail. Marnie is a true lover of the world.
